The Northwest Kansas Foundation for HOPE was founded in 2009 by a group of nine women from Thomas County, whose lives had been touched by cancer, either personally or through the struggles of loved ones.
These women shared a vision of helping their fellow community members relieve the burden of cancer by Helping Offset Patient Expenses (HOPE), providing grants directly to the individual patient for various expenses.
Grant requests are recommended at $1000 or less for the first grant, $750 or less for the second grant, $500 or less for the third grant, and $250 or less for the fourth grant and can be used for the following causes:
- Dietary Supplements
- Fuel
- Lodging during treatment
- Medical Bills
- Medical Equipment
- Medications
- Wigs
The Foundation considers applications from a nine-county region in Northwest Kansas, including Cheyenne, Decatur, Gove, Logan, Rawlins, Sheridan, Sherman, Thomas, and Wallace Counties.
